What have you noticed changing in fast food over the years?

The type/preparation of the food, what they served, etc.

The more details, the better!

I think the biggest change I've noticed, is the taste of french fries now.

I know that deep french fried potatoes aren't good for anyone. But on

the very rare occasion I eat them with a burger, I really miss the flavor

I used to enjoy. I used to prefer Mc D's fries to any other fast food. But

when they joined the others with using the healthier oil, there went the

flavor for fries there also. I would probably have to go to a privately

owned fast food, to get original flavor these days. But they are hard to

find. The chains are everywhere and usually within two blocks of

each other.

I also miss the burgers that were so large, it took two hands to hold

one. My husband, loved a "Big Buford" in Phoenix. They were way too much for me to eat. My favorite then, was the "What a Burger", that are known in some of the southern states, including Arizona. But when their 'packing's became skimpier, we switched to "Jack In The Box". Now they too are a disappointment. And "Burger King", tastes like plastic food. I can't think of the name of the Mormon owned fast food chain. But it gets' tiresome when they put bread and butter pickles on a burger, and it screams for dills' instead, that you've

asked for. And nowhere do you get the packed burgers you see on your TV screens, for any burger that I've seen in person.

I have eaten a Jr Burger from "Wendy's" and enjoyed the BLT toppings..But it takes two of those to get satisfied, since they are small. But I don't like their bland fries. There is a local chain, called "Burgerville", where we live, that still has a 50's style burger. And they enforce that fact, with a decor that is 50's Rock and Roll, and even has a hot rod parked inside a few of them, all polished to car show appearance. All they need are car hops and it would truly be a 50's style burger joint.

We rarely eat at a Taco Bell, since they have been skimpy on the

toppings or fillings for years. And some of their locations have added

a spicey agenda. Which I don't appreciate, and often can't eat. We

used to enjoy a "Der Weinersnitzel" when we could find one. But I

haven't found one in our city or others near us, in many years. I used

to love their basic chili dog. I have eaten at the "In and Out " burgers'

in the LA area when we visited. And really enjoyed them for their

flavor about thirteen years ago. They aren't available in the northwest

yet. But maybe one day.

Yeah, the biggest one is the question I have about fast food Mexican food. How can they mess up on basics like a bean tortilla, quesadillas, fried rice, refried beans, chile rellenos, & sopapillas? I've had many, many wonderful versions of these, but sometimes the cooking is dreadful.

Other than that, I don't eat fast food often, but sometimes I go to the deli in our neighborhood grocery store or I buy something frozen or in a plastic container at Trader Joe's. However, all of it has a high sodium content & high fat content that are noticeable.

Even though it may look like it's healthy food, such as pasta or grilled veggies or potato pancakes or vegetarian soup or focaccio with jalapenos, etc. it tastes too salty. When I asked the grocery about the grilled veggies, the guy behind the counter said it was cooked in butter. When I cook some of this stuff, I use low-fat milk for the white sauce, clarified butter or sesame oil for the fat, & no added salt, but instead, some sort of herbs like rosemary or tarragon. I would never use mushrooms or onion or garlic, but all the chefs in California like tons of those things, which I would skip.

With some deli things, I could use bigger servings, but all of that stuff is expensive. I should be glad to have just small amounts since it is so high-sodium & high-fat. As for the taste, I'm sure it's a matter of what you usually eat & enjoy. Some is great, & some is not, & it definitely could be healthier.

There's a lot more of it. When I drive into the city there's fast food everywhere and there's a lot more variety--everything from burgers to fish and tacos to roasted chickens.

The one thing I don't like about it much is that many sit down restaurants might as well call themselves fast food. The service is usually good but the food is mediocre--examples might be Applebee's, Olive Garden or those Furr's Cafeterias. It looks and tastes the same everywhere you go.

I avoid those places.

Less people are eating fast food in the UK than they were ten years ago. People are getting more health conscious now. I know the big US fast food chains; McDonald's, Burger King, KFC etc are now offering salads, vegetarian, low-fat, low-salt and healthy eating options that were unheard of ten years ago.

In terms of service, fast food has changed drastically. Operations have focused on fast as possible food. Lean production and just in time service is the epitome of fast food chains. People want their food with no queuing times nowadays. We don't even have time to park, walk inside and order it seems. McDonald's introduced their first drive through in 1975 and now 95% of McDonald's chains have a drive through service.

The last time I ate at a Long John Silver's the fish portions were about half of what they were a few months before, the fish had been kept warm too long and was not cooked fresh, haven't been back and that was a year or so ago, a total waste of money. I bought a pizza at pizza chain a few years ago, they were running a special and there were waiting customers. The pizza was mostly tomato sauce for toppings, got heartburn and never went back. I make my own now and they are good. They put a special at those type of restaurants to get people in the door, then use the cheapest or smallest portions of foods. One bad experience is all it takes for me never to be their customer again. I rarely eat in any restaurant these days.

No communication skills are necessary in holding down a position in a drive-thru lane apparently , as it's like going for potluck. It used to be that one didn't need to double check the order at the pick up window;but I have learned if I really want it my way - I need to double-check it. The quality is lacking as well. Don't get me started on cleanliness of the help or the establishment. These are just a few of the resons I shy away from from fast food, other than I'm not shopping for a heart attack.

that it is prepared in a more efficient way, the food is prepared in a more organized way and is of somewhat better quality, more variety on the menu, faster service, made to order instead of just sitting there, better sanitation procedures. nutrition information available, improvements in customer service and management, faster service. they now offer benefits to employees and health insurance that is affordable. hope this helps.

I so seldom eat fast food that places have opened and closed and I never ate their food. The one thing that I see has changed is that there are so many fast food places. So many choices so little time. When we travel south and east we eat at Cracker Barrel. When we travel west we take a picnic lunch. I like Steak and Shake burgers and chili. That's all.

Its introduction. There was no such thing for the early part of my life, there wasn't even a fish and chip shop as I lived in a village.Personally I think it has been responsible for so many of the problems we have today, particularly obesity and the lack of family life, the whole family coming together at meal times and all that went with that.. The lack of any sort of table manners, the use of fingers instead of cutlery, Oh I could go on...but I won't!

There was no Oriental fast food when I was young.

All we had in Scotland was the "Chip Shop" which only sold deep fried fish and chips (only 1 type of fish too !).

They are still a favourite but have diversified and added chicken, black pudding, sausage, Scotch pie, several types of fish, all deep fried.

And the latest fad, deep fried MARS BARS !!!!!! yuck.

Yea, it's faster and less appetizing. Another thing I have found is when you go into a restaurant they serve you twice as much as a normal person should eat. No wonder the country is so over wait! Your parents teach you to eat every thing on your plate and not waist food and restaurants serve you a whole days supply in one setting! Sorry, I got carried away and that real wasn't what you were asking.

When I was quite young there were no fast food restaurants. There was a place that sold a huge loaf of french bread that had fried chicken inside it when you opened the 'lid'.

Fast food to us was eating a mom-made picnic meal at a roadside park while we were traveling. Mother heated the baby's bottle on the car radiator.

When the grandsons came along they loved to be taken to McDonalds for a meal.

I find most all hamburgers tasteless and not hot. My theory is that the fat in them created the good taste, then they started using lean meat.We use to get burgers at a bowling alley that dipped their buns in butter...Yummm.

If I want fast food I go to a Chinese carry out. The food is cheap and lots of it.

They stopped frying in lard and are using a better quality of oil, but the fries are all processed potatoes instead of real potatoes.

The burger places are using leaner meat, not as much fat/grissle.

We have a better selection than we had 10 to 20 years ago.

Instead of just KFC, we have Church's, Pollo Loco, Popeyes, Hartz and some others.

I remember the time when Colonel Dixie, Burger Chef and McDonalds were the 3 major burger places. And Stone's ice cream parlor was the big thing in town. But that was the 1960s.

I think they are still using far too much processed and over-processed foods, but it is nice to see Wendys is offering Mandarin Oranges as well and Apples have come to McDonalds.

A lot of good, healthy choices, more customer service but also bad, bad bad... they've bowed to public pressure and assumed we all eat 3 meals a day there and have ruined the taste of the fries by changing the type of oil. When I eat out I want tasty treat, not bland.

Ashley - when I was a kid (in Britain) fast food was limited to fish and chips and pork pies! I enjoyed the fish and chips - always hot and tasty, but had no appetite for the pies. This is all I have to compare to today's fast food!

Good Q. Have a star!

CJ

Their portions are smaller....the big mac is now an overly sauced and topped burger. The chains all seem to taste the same. Arby's now has a better tasting burger....egads! They all over salt, too.

Now I wonder why the big mac was my favorite food during pregnancies. Why I ever loved the egg mc muffing. Why Sonic dogs were special. Where did the 'taste' go?

Now when I want fast food, I go for Chinese. No more disappointments for me; I'll keep my memories.

I remember, in the 70's- a Whopper was Huge, but now it's regular size, and I used to go to a drive thru, that used to serve a pizza burger, it was so good- had Mozzarella cheese hid in the middle of the beef patty- but that place closed down.

There's some effort to make it healthier, - salads at McDonald's, etc. Unfortunately, if they don't sell, then they go back to the triple cheeseburgers!

It's probably less Family oriented, because They seem to target Younger People. I thank it,s better for You though. McDonald's offers Healtry choices for Their Kids Meals.

Seems like fast food restaurants are offering more healthful foods. A co-worker came back from McDonald's with a bag of apple slices. I was impressed!

Yes, they offer more dollar items.

I like fries covered with chili. Hmmm, delicious! You can get those at Wendy's.

Last year when I could afford a Big Mac or a Burger King meal, I am noticing that the food does not taste as good as it once did.

The variety and the price. Some places are getting a healtier focus and I think it would be best if all menus contained the calories.

The service is terrible. Its mostly young people that they hire. The food is usually cold... or the order is wrong.*

I don't like the french fries anymore - they taste lousy - they have ruined them with what ever oil they are now using.

DeeJay.

Nothing much but some fast food has a weird taste i must say. I don't eat much fast food like i use too.

Seldom go to them We prefer China Buffets usually Hong KongBuffet while traveling or a Cracker Barrel.

The size of the fries and drinks. THe burgers are the same. I love Big Macs.

Larger serving sizes, higher cholesterol.

Size..............they want to supersize everything.

What is a food you like, but you find yourself removing one or two things out of it before eating it?

For example, I like Runts candy, but I can't stand the bananas, so I always have to remove them.

What is the food, and what do you take out before eating it?

I do the same thing, I hate banana flavored candy. I do not eat peanuts in chex mix, or bar mixes

Usually burgers ( from Burger King, Hardeez.etc), all though when i order, i say not to give that, this,,,,but if i forget , no tomatoes and mayonnaise! At all, i can't eat this two ever!

When I make salmon patties I buy the Alaskan salmon and I take out the skin and the bones. Some people eat that but I think it is gross.

I LOVE the bananas...!

pizza, I take off the cheese sometimes

u dont like the bananas? dont u like their unusual and mild flavour, so diff from all the others?

well I wont answer your qestion then.

salad..

i only like dark green pieces, i always have to remove the white pieces and hearts before i can eat it.

Chicken Pot Pie. I always remove the peas because I absolutely hate peas

I have to pick the hard boiled egg whites out of potato salad.

When I eat stew, I try to get more veggies & less meat.

I like pasta salad and pizza but I pick the olives out if there are any in there.

I absolutely love to eat Honey Garlic ribs.. but I always find myself removing rib bones from the meat ; ) lol

tacos, i take out tomatoes and half the lettuce, and sour cream if its in it.

Salad for me too, I have to take out the purple leaves *ew* and the tomatoes

What Food should I change my kittens to?

My Kittens are 7-8 months old and are having problems with diahera due to changing the food too rapidly and the vet gave me some medicine and told me to gradually change to a better quality food. But what kind? Innova EVO, Wellness Core, Athurity, Nature's Variety Instincts I heard are really great quality.

Okay, no, Science Diet, Iams, Purina and all of those are not great foods. They are BETTER than Meow Mix, Whiskas and other Wal-mart brands, but they are still terrible foods. They don't have enough meat content for cats, who are obligate carnivores, and contain a lot of disgusting fillers that cats can't digest.

Do not be lulled into a false sense of safety just because someone is a vet or becoming one. Vets are not nutritionists and don't always recommend the best foods. That's why many keep Hill's prescription diets handy in their clinics.

You have heard correctly. Innova EVO, Wellness or Wellness Core and Authority are very good foods. EVO and Core are grain free and based on a diet that more closely resembles what cats would be eating in the wild. All of the really good foods are more expensive, but you'll actually be spending the same or even saving money in the long run. Cats are getting more nutrients in a smaller amount of food in great foods than they are in bad foods, hence they have to eat more of the bad to get what they need. If you feed your pets good foods, they will eat less but get more of what they need. Added bonus: less litterbox cleanup for you!

What I recommend is to feed your cats the best food you can personally afford. If you can't afford Innova Evo, but you can afford Natural Balance, then that's perfectly fine.

What were you feeding before?

Eukanuba, Iams, Science Diet, and Purina One or Pro Plan are all excellent foods, and much less expensive than the ones you listed. The ones you listed are fine too as long as you don't mind paying the premium.

The brands like Meow Mix, Whiskas, etc., are fine for many cats but can cause loose stools in some cats because of the high corn content.

Of course some people will tell you that the major brands are horrible, but you've got to expect that with all the opinions flying around the internet. ;)

Good luck with them! :)

Hi

Get some acidoupholous from the health food store and sprinkle about 1/8th a teaspoon on the food each gay for the diarrhea.

Food

Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health

Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.

Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingrediant a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?

http://www.catinfo.org/#Learn_How_To_Read_a_Pet_Food_Ingredient_Label

http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Spring04/Perhach/PetFood/InterpretingLabels.htm

Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s and a host of other problems. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms

The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with grains and carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process. Also, Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food but in

Dry, 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don't use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.

http://www.catinfo.org/#My_Cat_is_Doing_Just_Fine_on_Dry_Food

You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn't have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all.

THE BEST CAT FOODS CONTAIN NO GRAINS NO BYPOODUCTS NO MEAL

Cats are meat eaters not cereal or rice eaters

Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. I would rather feed a middle grade canned food then the top of the line dry food.

Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/bpo_ch4a.php

Please read about cat nutrition.

http://www.catinfo.org/

http://www.catinfo.org/feline_obesity.htm

http://maxshouse.com/feline_nutrition.htm#Dry_Food_vs_Canned_Food.__Which_is_reall

Vetinarian diets The reason your vet thinks so highly of the pet food they sell probably has more to do with money than nutrition. In vet school, the only classes offered on nutrition usually last a few weeks, and are taught by representatives from the pet food companies. Vet students may also receive free food for their own dogs and cats at home. They could get an Iams notebook, a Purina purse and some free pizza. http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Spring04/Perhach/PetFood/Vets.htm

What kinds of food do they have in Tanzania?

Whats there ways on making food, how they prepare it, what kinds of things they eat

Here´s a good link:

http://www.africa.upenn.edu/Cookbook/Tanzania.html

Most food that makes up Tanzanian cuisine is typical throughout all of East Africa. Meat is not widely consumed in comparison with other areas of the continent. Cattle are normally slaughtered only for very special occasions, such as a wedding or the birth of a baby. Cattle, sheep, and goats are raised primarily for their milk and the value they contribute to social status. When meat is consumed, however, nyama choma (grilled meat) and ndayu (roasted, young goat) are most popular.

The Tanzanian diet is largely based on starches such as millet, sorghum, beans, pilaf, and cornmeal. A meal that could be considered the country's national dish is ugali, a stiff dough made of cassava flour, cornmeal (maize), millet, or sorghum, and usually served with a sauce containing either meat, fish, beans, or cooked vegetables. It is typically eaten out of a large bowl that is shared by everyone at the table. Wali (rice) and various samaki (fish) cooked in coconut are the preferred staples for those living in coastal communities.

The introduction of various spices by the Arabs is highly evident in a popular coastal dish, pilau. It consists of rice spiced with curry, cinnamon, cumin, hot peppers, and cloves. Matunda (fruits) and mboga (vegetables) such as plantains, similar to the banana, ndizi (bananas), pawpaw (papaya),

biringani (eggplant), nyana (tomatoes), beans, muhogo (cassava), spinach and other greens, and maize (similar to corn) are frequently eaten, many of which are grown in backyard gardens. Ndizi Kaanga (fried bananas or plantains) is a local dish that is very popular with Tanzanians and tourists alike. In the cities, Indian food is abundant.

Chai (tea), the most widely consumed beverage, is typically consumed throughout the day, often while socializing and visiting with friends and family. Sweet fried breads called vitumbua (small rice cakes) are commonly eaten with chai in the mornings, or between meals as a snack. Chapatti (fried flat bread), also served with tea, is a popular snack among children. Street vendors commonly sell freshly ground black coffee in small porcelain cups, soft drinks, and fresh juices made of pineapple, oranges, or sugar cane. Adults enjoy a special banana beer called mbege made in the Kilimanjaro region (northeast Tanzania). Aside from the common serving of fresh fruits or pudding, desserts such as mandazi (deep-fried doughnut-like cakes) are sold by vendors.

Here is a site that will tell you how to make some local food like Ugali, Chapatti (Fried Flat Bread), and Wali wa Nazi (Rice in Coconut Milk).

I'm great at burning stuff right onto the bottom of the pan really badly, the kitchen ends up smelling of charcoal! Now that is the smell of panic!

Humans!

Definately popcorn. The smells just doesnt go away for a while either. Ugh!

Popcorn.

It smells like death!

Fish! Smells bad enough when cooked properly, but burnt? GAG!!

Popcorn! The smell never seems to go away!

What are 'food product directives' and where could I find them?

What does it mean by food product directives and what can I do about it?

Food product directives are a set of rules by which all food manufacturers must stick to. They govern such things as the amount of salt allowed in food, or which artificial additives are safe to use.

What is the weirdest and most disgusting food you have eaten?

the weirdest food i have eaten is rabbit soup. ughhh!

also alligator or some sort of croc.

I traveled to many third world countries when I was in the USMC. I've eaten many wierd and disgusting things. You never know if you will like it or not. Plus it's kinda fun. It's like a dare.

By far, the most disgusting thing that I've eaten was balut. Balut is a an egg in which the bird begins to grow.

In Malaya in the Army we used to put a paraffin lamp out at night and all the moths and insects that burnt themselves to death on it fell onto a tapaulin underneath. There would be a bucket-full by morning. Into hot oil for a few seconds to fry them crisp, and they were our breakfast 'cornflakes' with re-constituted dried milk. Helped out with the protein ration. Very nice..Sometimes we had them with curry paste to spread on biscuits.....I grew up on rabbit soup, boiled rabbit, roast rabbit, rabbit stew, rabbit pie, rabbit everything......we used to trap them. We only got other meat for birthdays and Christmas, when we traded veg from our garden for chickens. We got all our eggs that way too. Now we can get chicken every day.....it's luxury these days.

tripe, beef tongue, snails, frogs legs, and chocolate covered bugs of some sort. I liked everything but the tripe.

rabit soup is good, would love to try alligator..ive had octopus stew...its ****** amazing, i wish i was eating some right now

Chocolate covered cricket

Weirdest food I've eaten is "Ba Lut" eats a chicken/duck egg with the fetus inside. It's a Asian dish.

Raw oyster. Straight out of the shell. DISGUSTING!!!!!!!

cow brain EWWW! i hate it!!

What food should I have to become fatter and more muscular?

I'm 16 and I have extremely skinny even anorexic forearms. My biceps, abs and legs are pretty muscular and I've tried eating a lot of food but I don't gain weight because of my metabolism and because I play a lot of basketball. I only weigh 53kg at my age which is abnormal and far too low. Any diet tips to gain weight especially on my forearms and exercises? BTW wrist curls don't help. They seem to make my forearms smaller.

Ok, in order to bulk up you need to lift weights that are roughly 70 - 75% of your 1 rep max (the max weight you can perform one correct rep of on any given exercise). Basically you need to lift a weight that you can lift 8 - 10 reps of (with correct form) and hit failure on the last rep (you cannot complete 1 more rep). You need to build up to to about 4 - 5 sets of this for each exercise. This form of lifting is called hypertrophy, i.e. bodybuilding. In conjunction with this you also need to increase your daily calorie intake by about 500 calories per day, ensuring that you consume protein within the 10 minutes after you train, and also every 2 - 3 hours throughout the day (egg whites, chicken, tuna, lean red meat). A protein supplement is the best way of taking in these extra calories and protein. You will also need to ensure that you are consuming enough complex carbs (fruit, veg, etc) to provide you with the fulw for your workouts.

If the wrist curls are making your forearms smaller then I am guessing that you are over training. You need to give your body at least 48 hours rest after lifting weights. This is the minimum. Anything less than that and you are over-training which will only cause the muscle to break down and wear away. I would suggest that you pick different muscle groups and work them on alternative days, chest and triceps one day, biceps, forearms and back another day, legs and shoulders another day. This will allow you to lift weights everyday if you wish, whilts giving the various muscle groups time to recover.

Another fun way to build your forearms is the NSD Powerball (check it out on the net). I play basketbal too. I got one a couple of weeks ago and i'm noticing an increase in strength in my forearms.

Hope this helps you

I don't siggest that you become "fatter" because that is unhealthy for you... but being more muscular is good... you can do so by a combination of well balanced exercise and diet, there are a few good weight loss programs I suggest:

http://www.robreviews.com/weight-loss-programs.html

it's simple...force feed yourself... Havent u heard how many calories michael phelps consumes in a day?

What effects does welfare, illegal drugs, food stamps, have on the GDP?

From what I understand about the illegal drugs, the "product" that money is spent on never gets counted. But does welfare and food stamps have an effect as well?

drugs should be legal

That's why we need a flat sales tax, and do away with income tax.

The drug dealers, pimps, whores, criminals, imbezzlers, will pay their "fair share".

The more you spend, the more you pay.

Makes sense to me.

Vegetarians: what fast food restuarants to you eat at? What do they offer for you?

I'm a student and sometimes need something quick and cheap. What fast food joints have you found that cater to a vegetarian diet?

Subway and Quiznos have veggie subs

Burger king has veggie burgers

McDonalds in Cali and NY have veggie burgers

Wendy's has a Veggie Sandwich, which is a burger w/o the patty. Wendy's also has baked potatoe

You can get nachos at Taco Bell w/o the meat

Salads from almost anywhere

And of course fries, if you're want a snack :)

None really *cater* to a vegetarian diet, but here are some that I've found where I live that are pretty veg-friendly:

Subway (many options)

Qdoba (many options)

Quiznos (many options)

Cousin's (many options)

Burger King (veggie burgers)

KFC (??!!) (lots of side dishes)

Wendy's (lots of side dishes)

Noodles & Co. (many options)

Panera Bread (many options)

Taco Bell (any item can be customized)

Taco Bell has been my favorite because you can ask for anything on the list, and just replace the meat with refried beans. Just be clear about it, and they'll do it, no charge. To tell you the truth, if you're not too picky, you can eat at any fast food place, except for McDonald's. They have nothing but French fries and side salads.

I try to avoid fast food as much as possible, because they're not healthy. I understand, though, what life is like as a student and the need for something quick. I don't go to most places, and avoid McDonald's completely (here in the US they have beef in the fries)

I do sometimes go to Taco bell (their beans and rice are both safe) I usually get a bean burrito and a cheese roll up.

I love Togos (they have a huge selection of veggie sandwiches) I'm not sure if there are any outside of California. Quiznos, though, is also good and have veggie options (i hate Subway)

Again, this is only Cali, but I adore In n Out. I get a grilled cheese which is basically a cheeseburger without the meat, and their fries are veggie.

Safeway's deli section makes great sandwiches to.

This is a great site that lists all the vegetarian options at fast food places and some other restaurants: http://www.vegetarian-restaurants.net/OtherInfo/FastFoodRest.htm

La Chica- McDonald's yogurt is not vegetarian.

There are not really any fast food chains that "cater" so to say to vegetarians. They usually only offer things like veggie burgers or one or two veg friendly items. But my best bet for getting good vegetarian food is at a taco and burrito place, they usually have lots of beans + other veg options and usually you can custom order most of your meal :)

if I must eat at a fast food joint aka drive in places i opt for either burgerking which has a veggie burger or Taco Bell, where there is an array of options. I usually order a combo of hard shelled bean burritos with lettuce, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes, peppers and onions on top of this, ill add mild hot sauce to it until it suits my liking. I also get thier side orders of small bags of warm taco chips which are very good!. FYI: if you do ever order one of those sides f chips at a drive-thru window, be sure to tell them to add a small cup or two of salsa. unfortunately, mos tellers have forgotten in my past if i dont mention it.

taco bell's beans are vegetarian so you could get a bean burrito there or something.

if you have a moe's southwest grill near you, they have a lot of options.

subway (or most delis) you can get a sandwich with just veggies.

many places have veggie burgers just go in one day when you have time and look.

I personally HATE fast food, but for your sake here are some:

plain baked potato(wendys)

Side Salad(McDonalds)

Any salads, just ask there to be NO chicken on it

Apple Turnovers(McDOnalds)

This website has a TON of food places. It has helped me alot.

really, none do. their fries are often coated and/or cooked in beef fat, their ice creams come from factory farm cows a lot the time. it sucks, but fast food places are all about making their money and don't really think about vegetarians

Most do, but you should not be doing business with any that sell meat products, as this is supporting the slaughter of animals.

I only really eat at wendys.

I get a baked potato with italian vinaigrette dressing.

Its REALLY good.

And vegan.

McDonalds has the 'Fruit and Walnut salad'. It's just apples and grapes with yogurt on the side and walnuts on the side. ☺☻☺☻

Taco Time - bean burritos

None. Nothing and None.

streamliner from johnny rockets, it's 100% soy boca burger

Subway is the first fast food joint I've entered in 10 -15 years, 'cos at least there is a choice

Burger King~veggie burger, no mayo

none-haven't been to one in years.

but alot of folks go to subway for a veggie sub.

peace

'To what extent has junk food advertising had a negative impact on childhood obesity?'?

Hello I am an A-level student currently preparing for an upcoming exam. This exam involves research and peoples opinions. I am trying to find out whether or not children are influenced by what they see. Any parents advice would be great. I want to know if any parents or children have been encouraged to buy something (food) after viewing an advertisement.

Not the childrens fault.

It is the fault of the lazy Moms and Dads who would rather buy the easy to open junk food rather than wash and cut fruit and vegetables.

My daughter does not get drawn in to television ads.

I win.

Its not the children's fault it's the parents for not being responsible and spoiling the children. In most cases the parents are obese too.

It is not the children's fault; nor is it the jink foods fault. It's the PARENTS who are too blame, they can't be bothered to cook for their children and simply send them to Macdonalds and make them a microwave meal.

am not a parent but i know such adv really hit the button, sometimes when am not in the mode when i feel down & can't control my feelings & i watch such junk food adv, i go a head and order whatever i saw.

so yes these adv really affect us what about children who can't decide what's healthy & what's not

PS when i feel down i eat a lot

What is The Highest Quality Dog Food?

Hi.

What is the highest quality dog food on the market?

Please provide evidence/sources and not what the commericals say.

Thanks.

There is no food that is the *best*, different individual dog may thrive on different foods. What is best for one may not be the best for the next. And just because a food is good quality, it doesn't mean it will jive the best for your dog.

---

Read the ingredients before you buy.

Here is my "short list" of rules when I am looking at dog food ingredients:

1) When I chose a dog food, I chose one high meat content. I want to see preferably at least 2-3 out of the top 5 ingredients be meat or meat meal (first ingredient must be!). Meal is simply the meat with the moisture removed.

2) I want to see higher quality grains, such as barley, brown rice, and oatmeal, instead of seeing wheat and corn. Or an alternative starch/carbohydrate such as potatoes or sweet potatoes.

3) I don't want to see any byproducts.

4) I don't want to see a lot of fillers (brewers rice, beet pulp).

5) I don't want to see preservatives that are believed to be carcinogens (BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin).

6) I don't want to see artificial colorings such as the Red, Blue, and Yellow dyes.

7) I don't want to see added sugars (sugar, corn syrup).

8) I don't want to see mystery meats (meats identified only as "meat" or "poultry".)

Here is an article about byproducts:

http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?...

And an article on what ingredients to avoid:

http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?...

---

Here are some examples of high-quality dog foods:

* Artemis

* California Natural

* Canidae

* Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul

* Eagle Pack Holistic Selects

* Fromm

* Innova

* Merrick

* Nature's Variety

* Solid Gold

* Taste of the Wild

* Wellness

Or check this website; I prefer to stay in the 5-star rated foods (high quality and most have the appropriate protein level for my dog, I feed around 25% protein usually). http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_...

---

Higher quality food may seem more expensive at first, but it evens out. The higher quality the food, the less fillers eaten (and therefore the less poop comes out the other end). Your dog eats more of a low-quality food to try to get the nutrition it needs, and most of the food just passes right on through. Also, higher-quality food will make your animals healthier, so you save money on vet bills in the long run.

---

What not to buy:

Stay away from grocery stores brands. They are low-quality foods chalk full of fillers, preservatives, dyes, etc.. (Grocery store foods are those like Beneful, Old Roy, Alpo, Pedigree, etc.)

Beware "premium" foods. "Premium" does not always mean good nutritionally, and is not a nutritionally high quality food. Many of these foods have the same types of ingredients as grocery store foods, just a bit better quality of those not-so-good ingredients. (Premium foods are those like Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Bil-Jac, Royal Canin, etc..)

Another thing to be wary of: A lot of vets will recommend what they sell in their office. They get profit from the brands they keep on their shelves, that's why they push it. Truth is, vet schools don't focus a lot on nutrition. It's not saying that a vet is a bad vet because he recommends those foods, a lot of vets just are told "this is good food", so they pass the message along without proper nutrition knowledge. Also, some dog food brands (like Hills) support vet schools, so vets have heard of it from the time they start college, which makes them think it's good as well.

Hills company, the makers of Science Diet, are heavily involved in vet schools. "Hill's scientists author more than 50 research papers and textbook chapters each year and teach at leading schools of veterinary medicine" (Source of quoted section: Hills website )

---

"Big box" petstores like Petco and Petsmart rarely have quality foods. There are some, but they are limited.

Also, grocery stores and Walmart aren't good places to buy food either.

Your best bets for getting quality dog food are:

- small, locally owned petstores

- dog boutiques

- farm supply stores

---

When switching foods, do it gradually. I do this over about a two week timespan:

25% food A, 75% food B

50% food A, 50% food B

75% food A, 25% food B

100% food A

.

Speak to your vet or look on web sites, you are best avoiding wheat, dairy, eggs and soya.

It depends on where you live to what options are available to you

I would have thought that the best dog food would be home made left overs etc.

There would be no preservatives, additives, flavourings etc.

So like wen u have meat just give your dog some left overs etc..

if u dont want to do that, then personally i would go for something like

quote from dogsey.com:

Dry dog food is dog food that has been baked or cooked and then ‘dried’ into small cubes or shapes. One of the major benefits of dry food is that it helps keep your dogs teeth in good condition as the chewing action helps remove plaque. Dry dog food is normally ‘complete’ meaning it contains all the recommended daily vitamins and minerals for a dog’s daily diet. There are many kinds of dry dog food that you can buy, including organic dog food, holistic dog food and natural dog food. You even get a variety of dry dog foods specially created for different kinds of dogs. There’s dry puppy dog food, junior dog food, adult dog food, senior dog food, even dog food for lactating bitches or those recovering from surgery.

there are organic foods.

It's really going to depend on your dog. On a full size, adult dog with no known allergies or health issues, grain free foods like Innova EVO, Artemis, Merrick Pet Care - Before Grain, Taste of The Wild and many many others are the highest quality.

You can view websites such as www.dogfoodanalysis.com and http://www.dogfoodproject.com/ to get the information

home made if you can afford it, and its quite complicated to get all the nutrition spot on, but it can be done, and is done.

but without doing that, raw tripe is top of breeders and exhibitors list, this is what the majority of dogs would have been fed on before the comercial complete foods many years ago.

if you can stomach the smell i would deffinatly give it a go!

The highest quality dog food, is the dog food YOU'RE dog and only YOU'RE dog does best on. Every dog is different, so really no one can recommend a dog food, and most of the reviews online are crap. Including dogfoodanalysis which is not run by a nutritionist contrary to what some may think.

When picking a food i never looked at silly reviews. I tried food out. Yes i got recommendations and i kept them in mind but i always chose what my dogs did best on. ONLY ONE of my dogs is grain sensitive, and guess what it ran in her line. The rest of my dogs are not grain sensitive, why cause its not in the lines. My dogs are fed a food that has been around way longer than those so called "holistic" foods, it has never been recalled, and they do absolutely great on it. My one grain sensitive dog is on the appropriate food.

I can only reccomend some of the brands i have used myself with great results:

James welbeloved

Pedagree

Science plan

Eukanuba.

And ProPlan.

It really depends on your dog's breed, health, age, wieght, and what you can afford. I'd ask a vet for a high quality brand and make sure I can afford it. Here are some tips:

1.Tell the vet your wadge average and ask for only what you can afford.

2. Tell the vet your dog's age and wieght. If you don't know your dog's wieght, ask the vet to wiegh your dog.

3. Buy the food.

P.S. If your dog doesn't like the food, mix it in with peanut butter and/or unseasond NOT colored pasta. NO SAUCE AT ALL. Or Search online for BARF food for dogs. Thanks for reading!

I suggest that Look on the ingredients list for all-natural foods that you recognize: beef, chicken, duck, lamb, brown rice, vegetables. These are high-quality ingredients and are readily digestible nutrient sources your pet's body can use.

Note whether the food includes carbohydrate fillers like cornmeal, wheat, soy and white rice. Stay away from foods loaded with these fillers because they are indigestible to your pet and provide no nutrients whatsoever. Wheat and soy are even known allergens.

check out Highest Quality Dog Food >>http://www.agritura.com/index.php/cat/c380_Dog-Food.html

The best foods are either Flint River Ranch - if you want to feed as is - or Dr. Harvey's - if you want to add your own protein. I have been using these foods for over 15 years now. Neither of these foods have ever been involved in any recalls. Flint River is available with either chicken, lamb or fish. No corn in any of their foods. You can check out all of the ingredients at this site: www.petfood123.com . Also all of the ingredients are human grade - nothing artificial and no fillers.

There are a lot of commercial dog foods on the market now that don't offer much nutrition. They tend to spend their money on marketing, rather than the actual nutritious value of their dog food. Their is some good information of dog foods at the website below.

Based on experience with two recent dogs I've had, I'd have to say Iams, especially for younger dogs. Just make sure to get the right age group if buying larger packs.

Pedigree is the best food, I feed my puppies this and they love it. It contains no nasty stuff what other retailers use in their dog food and is pure ingredients. I would'nt feed my dogs any other kind of food but Pedigree, and also people who show their dogs use this, also vets recommend this, breeders recommend this, its on the tv, its advertised, pet shops recommend it. PEDIGREE is the best :), and so is this answer
